

Jake Vinturella Sr., age 92, entered eternal rest on Monday, March 28, 2016 peacefully at home. He was born in New Orleans Sept. 17, 1923 and lived in Metairie for the past 16 years. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Over the years he owned a family neighborhood grocery, was a Barq’s root beer delivery man and a Lance route driver. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Loving father of Rosalie V. Knesel (Francis) of Metairie and Jake Vinturella, Jr. (Debbie) of LaPlace. Loving grandfather of Charlene V. Shanna, Todd Anderson (April), Tammy Knesel (William), Jennifer Vinturella and Stephanie Vinturella. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years Clothilde Kessling Vinturella; his late parents Nicholas and Lucy Parina Vinturella; his late brothers and sisters: Carlo, Anthony, Bernadine, Jennie, and Sam; along with great grandson Scotty.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd (in Metairie Cemetery) on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park.
