Jane Mary Gisevius

Jane Mary Gisevius passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 after a short illness, at the age of 75. She was the daughter of her late parents, Valda Hernandez Gisevius and Frederick J. Gisevius, Jr.

She graduated from Ursuline Academy, Loyola University, Loyola University-School of Law, and received her Master’s Degree in Law from the University of California, Berkley. She was a practicing attorney in New Orleans for many years.

She is survived by her two sisters, Carol Waguespack (Dr. Roland S., Jr.) of Vacherie, Louisiana and her twin sister, Joan Johnson. She was the beloved Aunt to her nieces and nephews-Jennifer Johnson Molina (Juan), Michael T. Johnson (Alicia), Molly Waguespack Benson (Paul), Dr. Lydia Waguespack Norton (Michael), and Dr. Roland Waguespack III (Jessica). She was the much loved and involved great-aunt to her great nieces and nephews: Juan Manuel Molina Jr., Miguel Molina, Dexler Steven Molina, Clancy Jane Johnson, Lydia Cummins, Dylan Cummins Paul Harrison Benson, Jr., Davis Benson, Lydia Benson, Mary Owens Norton, Christian Norton, Anderson Norton, Roland Waguespack III and Spencer Waguespack.

Jane was an active member and participant in many ministries at St. Catherine of Sienna Church. She was also a Board Member of the New Orleans Medical Mission.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. and following the funeral mass, a graveside service will take place at All Saints Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, Masses would be preferred or donations to the National Shrine of Our Lady Prompt Succor, 2734 Nashville Ave., New Orleans, Louisiana 70115
