Jane Walker McCall died on October 20, 2016, during an illness that had made her life unbearable. She was born in Dallas in 1951 to Ewing and Penny Walker, who have predeceased her. She attended Casady School in Oklahoma City, St. Timothy’s School in Maryland, and Pine Manor Junior College in Boston. In 1966 she met Jonathan McCall, one of her brother’s boarding-school roommates, and they were married in 1972. She and Jonathan lived happily in New Orleans since then, surrounded by many loyal and loving friends. She had an instinctive compassion for others and never seemed to think of herself. She is survived by Jonathan; by her sister and brother-in-law, Kate and Maurice Curran III; by her brother and sister-in-law, Ewing and Margot Walker; by her children and children-in-law, Jonathan and Sara McCall and Alston and Tim Nelson; and by her grandchildren, Alexander, Coalter, and Zoe McCall, and Evelyn, Emmett, and Jonathan Nelson. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a service at Trinity Church, 1329 Jackson Avenue, on Wednesday, October 26, at 12:30, with a visitation beginning at 11:30. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to New Orleans Friends of Music, www.friendsofmusic.org, or to the Louisiana Philharmonic Symphony, www.lpomusic.com.
