Sweet Sister Janet,
I can't believe you have been gone 3 years today.  I miss you every day.  We are having Nene Jocelyn's "Cupcake" birthday since she turned 5 and you should be there.  I know you, Joe, Mama and Daddy are all watching over our precious baby girl.  You would love that Nicolle ans Terri are teaching her.  I am doing okay living all by myself like you did and Lorraine and I carry on our casino tradition, but it's not the same without you.  This "kiddo" really misses talking to her big sister.  I still do, just in a different way, but I know you hear me.  Give all of our loved ones a hug and a kiss.  Help Lucky too.  Love and miss you so much, ❤️ Donna

 Just recently my sister and I ran into Janet, Lorraine and Donna at the casino, it was so good seeing them.   The sisters  were having a good time together, I only wish we had gotten to spend more time with them. Janet has always been a kind and loving person and she will be missed,

All my memories of my mom Janet are wonderful. No fur baby could have been loved more by anyone. She was always there, caring for me, giving me so much love and many, many treats. We were a team. I comforted her when she needed it, and she comforted me.  I was happy to be by her side. Even when she thought of leaving this world, she only worried about me. All she wanted was for me to be taken care of.  I miss her so much, but know I will meet up with her again someday, when I cross over the Rainbow Bridge. Mom, you can rest easy knowing I have found a great new mom, but no one can fill your shoes.

Janet was more than my sister.  She was also my very good friend.  She was generous, kind, loving, talkative, funny, and also a very good sport. 

 She never hesitated to go anywhere in spite of the fact that she was in pain and it was a struggle for her to walk.  Her trusty walker accompanied us to many restaurants, movie theaters, and on casino trips.  Last summer, although we both thought our concert days were over, Janet didn't hesitate to use that walker to accompany me to the Smoothie King Stadium for a chance to see the Queen + Adam Lambert concert.  She was much more impressed with Adam Lambert and said that Adam  was much cuter than the "old guys" (aka Queen).

Although I will miss her very much, I am happy that she is now free from pain and illness.   I can picture her at that big Casino in the Sky  where every spin can only win and where the soup of the day is always Italian Wedding Soup.

So sorry for your loss. I remember laughing in Winn Dixie with you and your sister about your mom how ya'll  bring her to the casino and how ya'll spent the day together. I’ve been struggling with what memories to share of Janet.  I met her 47 years ago, and we’ve racked up a lot of memories in that time.  We went to concerts and restaurants and movies – in fact, she snuck me into my first R-rated movie.  We celebrated birthdays, weddings, and babies, and we cried at funerals.

Janet had a great sense of humor and could crack me up without really trying.  She was the only person I’ve ever met who would read the last page of a book before buying it.  If it didn’t have a happy ending it went back on the shelf.  For years she berated me for watching ‘that garbage football’ and then she became a huge Saints fan.  She was a savant when it came to movie quotations and was faster with the answer than the internet.  She was loud, she talked a lot, and she laughed a lot, and she fit right in at our family gatherings.

But mostly Janet was one of the kindest and most generous people I’ve ever met.  She reached out to me when I was diagnosed with cancer.  I was trying to figure out how to put into words what I was feeling, and she said, “I know, kiddo.  Believe me, I know.”  And neither of us had to say anything else.  She was such a great comfort to me.

It hurts when a good person leaves us, even when it’s expected and we know it’s for the best.  Janet’s leaving hurts, but I take comfort in the fact that she’s no longer in pain and is reunited with her beloved parents.  And I have a feeling Heaven is a little noisier and a little more fun since she arrived.

Lorraine and Donna – You and your families remain in my prayers.  And Lorraine, I hope you know what a godsend you were for Janet especially during your mom’s illness and hers.  She often said she didn’t know what she’d do without you.


Praying for comfort for all family and friends.  May faith in God uphold you.  And may fond memories  help you smile again.  John and I are so sorry for your loss.                       

I have so many wonderful memories of Janet during family get togethers when we'd visit relatives in New Orleans. Janet was always quick with a laugh and a smile - she had the sharpest wit! She will be missed, but we know she is finally free of pain and suffering. Rest in peace, sweet angel!

I’ll always remember our weekly trips to Chili’s and all the mall. You were so good to my mom, Michael and I. My childhood (and my life) would not have been the same without you in it. You’re in almost all of my memories! I’m gonna miss you, Aunt Janet. Love ya lots. 

Words cannot express what I am feeling right now. I have known Jan for more than 40 years and she was more than my friend. She was family. She was always there for me and stood by my side when I needed her. She was Aunt Janet to my children and they both adored her. I will miss our daily phone calls where we were both talking at the same time most of all. God has taken you too soon from us but I am so glad that you are no longer in pain my sweet friend.

Ms. Janet was such a sweet and giving person, and she was a hoot! She had the kind of personality that could light up a room, and she always knew how to strike up a conversation.

I loved seeing her at family gatherings with my aunts. They'd been friends since high school and would tell stories about things they did when they were younger. They would have everyone laughing.

I'm so sorry that her cancer caused her so much trouble over the past few years. She didn't deserve that at all. At least now she's no longer in pain and can rest peacefully with Ms. Violet.

I'll keep her family and friends in my prayers.

I have so many memories of Janet that it is hard to know where to start.  For as long as I can remember, she has always been there for me.  She was 8 years older than me, but was my second Mom in so many ways.  I will never forget all of the vacations, movies, family gatherings and casino trips.  I will never forget when I was a teenager and we sneaked out to a midnight movie by Janet putting her car in neutral and me pushing it out of the carport while Mom was sleeping.  It was great fun until we got caught.  I also remember how she always took care of me and when I was pregnant with Jonathan and so sick how she left her job and brought me some medicine for nausea once my doctor approved.  She has always been there for us.  It is hard to imagine life without her, as she is part of all of my good memories.  She left way too soon, but she always said that your name is inscribed in God's book and you do not leave earth before your work is done there.  She helped me so much when Joe passed by telling me that.  There were so many memories she should have had with Nene Jocelyn, whom she called Cupcake.  Love you my sweet sister. One of my favorite memories of Nanny was her teaching me to drive a '93 Corsica in the Clearview Mall parking lot when I was 15. She would overpay me to wash the car earlier in the day and then we would go see a movie. After the movie,she would let me drive circles in the back behind Sears. No one could believe that she was brave enough to put me behind the wheel of her car because it was out of character for her, but I think that just proves she would have done anything to for me and to spoil me. This is just one of so many Sunday memories from times on Brokenbraugh court through the years. I never felt right that she had to leave her home in February and was too sick to return after living there for 59 years but now it's a comfort to know she is at home in heaven.

Janet was one of the most upbeat people I have ever known. Her positive attitude and strong faith left me in awe. She was a dear friend who would do anything for you. I'll miss her but I know that she's in a much better place. Heaven got another angel. Rest in peace my dear friend. I love you.

Janet was more than a friend to me, she was like another sister. I think I met her when I was around 15, can’t really remember, it was a long, long time ago.  She always told me, when it’s your time to go, it’s your time to go. I guess it was her time to go, even though we all think it was way too soon. I’ll try not to remember the pain and illnesses she went through, but remember the great times we had together. She loved her family, friends, her cat Lucky, the casino, the N.O. Saints, traveling, movies, game shows, TV and talking on the phone (Boy, did she LOVE talking on the phone! LOL). The only thing she wanted after she was gone, was for her baby Lucky to find a good home and he has. Janet loved God, I know she was welcomed into Heaven with open arms, by him, her parents, family and all her fur babies that went before her. 
R.I.P. Janet, love you my friend, and I’ll miss you, until we meet again.
