

Jeanette is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years Maurice Hew; daughters Jennifer Hew and Jessica Hew (Gregory); son Maurice Hew, Jr. (Beth); sisters Barbara Douglas (Bobby), Nellie Underwood (David), and Lotus Cosmo (Danny); brother Wallace Yip, Jr. (Mary); brothers-in-law Alfred Yim Kui Hew, Jr. (Mayling) and Harold Yim On Hew (Vaila); sister-in-law Patricia Hew Ellzey (William); grandchildren Lindsay Haley (Paul), Joshua Hew and Sarah Hew; great-grandson Christopher Haley; nephews Bruce Sanders (Cherie), Alexander Underwood, Wallace Yip III, Alfred Hew III, Michael Hew (Jennifer), Robert Hew (Brandy), Mark Lee, Todd Hew (Ivy); nieces Lauren Tauzin (Shawn), Michelle Lee, Monica Lee (Stephen), Tanja Hew, Kymberlee Byrd (Paul); and grandnieces Lydia Joe, Alyssa Hew, Alexa Hew, Samantha Makishima, Chaise Hew, and Eden Lee Tauzin; grandnephews Aaron Hew, Scott Hew, Ethan Hew, Donovan Joe, Mark Makishima; Grayson Byrd, Colby Byrd and Todd Hew, Jr., and Blake Sanders.
She is preceded in death by her parents, paternal grandparents Poy Yip and Leong Kam Yuk Yip; maternal grandparents Lin Cham Lew and Yuk Pui Lee Lew; father and mother-in-law Dr. Alfred Yim Kui Hew, Sr. and Shu Que Hew.
Jeanette was a church elder and Sunday school teacher at Chinese Presbyterian Church. She was involved in several community organizations Bright Tennis Club; Secretary of the Organization of Chinese American Woman (OCAW); former Start the Adventure Reading (Stair) volunteer for over 20 years; former board member of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA); former board member of Westminster Towers; volunteer for Special Olympics Louisiana and Lakeside Shopping Mall Walkers.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation beginning at 12:00 pm followed by a memorial service at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at Chinese Presbyterian Church, 2901 West Esplanade Ave., Kenner, Louisiana 70065. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Jeanette Hew Memorial Fund at Chinese Presbyterian Church or to Byrdhouse Ministries.
