You are missed and you are loved.  There are so many memories that we shared - good, bad, sad and happy.  Once a month we looked forward to sharing those good times.  I know you’re in a better place and you’re with God! Not a day goes by that I don’t miss you!

We met you and Maurice while on our honeymoon in Spring 1997, during a group tour of China & Hong Kong.  Even though we live in the Los Angeles area and you in the New Orleans area, there was an instant connection.  And little did we know at the time, we would become long distance friends for the next 23 years.

Since you were older than me, you would always kiddingly call me, “Little Brother” in Cantonese.  In my family growing up I was the “Number One Son” with four sisters, so I gladly returned the favor and called you, “Big Sister” in Cantonese.

As it turned out, during the span of our 23 year friendship, we would see each other like clockwork about every 2-3 years.  And each time we saw each other it was like we saw each other yesterday.  We always had a great time and planned a trip each time we got together.  I think our most memorable trip was in 2017, when we all went to Maui and Kauai.

We were definitely looking forward to our 2020 visit because we were planning to do the Crescent City Classic 10K together.  I also wanted to celebrate the 30th anniversary of my first and only CCC10K I did in 1990.  Unfortunately, the Crescent City Classic was cancelled and made a virtual event.  A couple weeks later, God decided he had other plans for you and your mom.  

I knew I would run the 2020 CCC10K virtually in Downtown Los Angeles on the day of the actual race, Saturday, April 11, 2020.  But your hearts must have filled with joy when I said on the night before the race that I would dedicate my 2020 CCC10K to both you and your mom.

We sensed your joy again this March, when we came by to say hi to you during our visit with Maurice and Jenni.  Even though we miss seeing you in person, we will see each other again.  In the meantime, we love you and will always keep you close to our hearts.

Jeanette & Maurice have always been there for me since they began dating.  She was my “2nd” mom as she & Maurice were always stuck with me as she was the oldest & I the youngest. I spent many weekends with them as my parents were busy working. 
We had a very close & special relationship growing up. She  is really missed by those that love her and my heart still hurts as I suspect it always will.
Rest easy “older” sister, I love & miss you lots.

Jeanette Hew will always be remembered with love my myself and my family.  When my son was dating Lindsay, after we first met, she told me how much she loved Paul and what a wonderful young man he was.  It was not long after that she began to call him her “grandson.”  Jeanette was always welcoming and loving and always looked at the good in others.  She welcomed our family in with open arms inviting us to special occasions such as birthdays and New Years celebrations. She constantly purchased items for our homeless ministry and she along with those in her church would make things like sleeping mats out of plastic grocery bags for the homeless. (They really liked those by the way.) 

But I will always remember the excitement when the news of Lindsay’s pregnancy was announced. She would talk and talk about this new baby, wondering what gender it was and couldn’t wait to meet this little blessing.  She was so excited in fact that she showed up at the hospital not long after his birth.  Plans were made to help Lindsay and she was going to be a constant part of his life.  But her life was cut short too soon. 

Every time I see our grandson, I think of you Jeanette and my eyes well up with tears. For I know what he is missing and he’ll never know you or the love you have for him.  But we will keep you alive by letting him know about his great grandma, and what a loving and wonderful woman of God you were.   

We talked a lot together about Jesus and our faith.  You carried the love of Christ with you and He was evident in the way you lived your life.  Now you are in your forever home.  But one promise we have is that we will see each other again.  Until then, know that you are loved and missed.

Mary and I will always keep you in our thoughts and memories. Even though we feel you were taken too soon, we know in our hearts that God’s timing is perfect. We know that you are with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and that is a wonderful thing. We know you are at peace and miss all of us as we miss you. We know that your physical life ended on this earth but your new life has begun in one of the rooms God promises us. We know you are looking down on us from heaven and know that one day we will all meet again. That will be a wonderful and joyous reunion. We will always love you and remember your  kind wonderful heart and your caring and helping of others.

Dear Maurice and family,
I just learned of the death of Jeanette. She was a delight, smart, witty, charming. I’m sure she and Sicoo have a lot catching up to do.

We had just embraced tightly, with  tears of joy foaming  from  our eyes.  I never  would  have thought  it was  bye-byes. Oh! If I would have only knew,  i didn't have a  clue, i hope you left knowing, how much  I loved you.  Take your rest, you have done your best.

Jett was my older but little sister. Even being small,  she had the biggest Godly heart and was a Woman of God. She loved God and was of service to him in many ways. Just about every person she met on the street, walking in the mall, grocery, waiting for the movies, on the tennis court, she always offered to pray for and with them. It did not matter the circumstance; illness, sadness, loss of a loved one, happiness, a celebration or just to praise God. It was through her guidance and prayers for me that brought me closer to God and showed me how serve him. I learned from one of God's BEST servants.  Jett loved gardening and had not one but TWO green thumbs! She could grow anything from a simple cutting.  She was a devoted and loving wife, was immensely proud of her children and their accomplishments. She doted being a grandmother to Lindsay, Joshua, and Sarah and owned the bragging rights of them as well. I believe everyone in the mall knew she was going to be great-grandmother and was so happy to meet and hold Christoper just as this horrific pandemic began. She was a loving Godmother to my daughter, Lauren and would have loved meeting her great-neice Eden Lee Tauzin to add to those to "spoil". Jett, you are and continue to be loved and missed, RIP Little Big Sister and watch over Dad, Mom, Grandma and Grandpa Hew and until we meet again...JOB WELL DONE!

Jeanette was a special friend to us thru our association with the 
FDDC pharmacy club.
We always enjoyed  her company and her kind and loving ways were always evident.  It is truly a tragic loss to us all.

I learned from you as a young Mama how to be a good Mama, handling all that needed to be done while still enjoying my children. Not to doubt my instincts. Being busy taking care of others is good, but so is taking the time for the things that I wanted to learn or just reading a book.  That it's good to be a hugger and someone who speaks up and shares what they feel. Yes, laughter is a wonderful part of every day.  Thinking of you now with the biggest smile on my face and hugging you always.

We have so many fond memories of Jeanette.  She was a sparkling person, full of positive energy, kind, smart, and funny. My condolences to the entire Hew family. Having known Jessica for so long and hearing all the wonderful stories about her family over the years, I was excited to finally meet various members at Jazz Fest.  The Hew family was welcoming and warm and at the head of that family was Mrs. Hew. May her memory make you smile and may her fun and warm spirit live on through all of you. Jessica- sending you a big hug from Orlando as you say this final goodbye to your amazing Mom. 

We have endearing memories of Jeanette and miss her.  
We were blessed to have had her share a brightness on us.

Jeanette was a rare individual who always managed to see the best in others. She radiated positive vibes. She always found a way to lift others up especially when they needed it the most. She was a beautiful ray of happiness and hope. Her cheerful attitude illuminated any room she walked into. Life back home in NOLA will never be the same without her in it. She is dearly missed.

Jeanette was a great addition to our FDDC family.  Enjoyed her so much at all our functions with her quirky self.

I appreciate all the time you spent listening to these crazy life stories I have and all the love and support you gave me!I love you so much, rest in peace my dear sister!
