

Our beloved mother, Jeanne Ragan Pujol, born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on January 23, 1936, age 88, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2024 at Slidell East Hospital in Slidell, Louisiana, after battling many illnesses over the last year.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Jesse James Pujol; her daughter, Darlene M. Grimsley; her grandson, Collin J. Matherne; and her parents, John and Lucille Ragan.
Jeanne is survived by her seven beloved children, Deborah Vogel (Lionel), Denise Schneider (Ronald), Diane Harris (John), Ricky Matherne, Chris Matherne (Lisa), Ryan Matherne, and Sharon Grooms (Tommy); her siblings, Louis Ragan (Georgette) and Linda Gelpi (Marcel); her fifteen grandchildren, Randall, Nicholas, Kevin, Nathan, David, Erica, Laura, Samantha, John, Karen, Aaron, Eric, Devin, Tyler, and Jesse; her sixteen great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Xavier, Ethan, Cameron, Kaleb, Isabella, Olivia, Madison, Parker, Mason, John, Cody, Connor, Harper, Tinsley, and Prince; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jeanne was born in Baton Rouge and moved to New Orleans at the age of 14. She graduated from the Academy of the Holy Angels High School, class of 1953. She lived in St. Bernard Parish for 30 years until Hurricane Katrina, and then moved to Ponchatoula.
She was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Mark Catholic Church in Chalmette, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ponchatoula, and St. Albert Catholic Church in Hammond. She was a member of the Rosary Altar Society, the church choir, and a member of the pro-life ministry. She had a great devotion to the Divine Mercy, the Rosary, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Jeanne enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, and spending time with her family and animals, especially her dogs, Sophie and Remy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 1:00PM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 11:00AM. The interment will follow the Mass at St. Patrick Cemetery No. 1.
