
Jeffrey “Jeff” L. Plauche passed away peacefully after a long illness on Friday, December 27, 2024. Jeff is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Susan Mischler Plauche. Jeff and Sue shared a beautiful and loving relationship starting as teenagers and lasting over 51 years. Jeff was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Slidell since 1982.
Born on April 25, 1956 Jeff was the Son of Foster G. Plauche and Cecelia Erline Rabalais Plauche. He was the loving brother of Dwaine J. Plauche (Gail), Larry J. Plauche (Diana), Glenn M. Plauche and Alaine P. Chaplain (Louis). He was predeceased by his sister Vickie P. Noel. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Jeff was the loving godfather of Rebecca Plauche Bean, Lauren Reeb Piland and Benjamin L. Chaplain and life-long best friend of Vincent R. Reeb.
Jeff was a beloved part of the Mischler Family, in particular to Sue’s siblings and their children, Ann M. Assad (the late MJ), Karl M. Mischler, Jr. (Marie), Dawn M. Chauvin (Timmy). Jeff was the beloved son-in-law of the late Karl M. Mischler, Sr. and Marie Pujol Mischler.
Jeff was an avid fisherman, enjoying boating and playing golf whenever the fish weren’t biting. He also enjoyed all sporting events, especially the Saints and Tulane Athletics. He loved gathering with friends for the Mardi Gras Parades and especially attending all of the local festivals. He had a passion for music, enjoyed going to concerts, listening to local musicians and was a huge Jazz Festival and French Quarter Festival fan.
He was a kind, loving and caring man who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Special thanks to various family and friends and caregivers over the years for their kindness, support and compassion as they helped Jeff and Sue cope with the progression of Jeff’s illness. Special note of thanks to caregivers Monica, Latoya and the hospice nurses who eased Jeff’s passage from this life to the next providing extraordinary kindness and care.
With very special thanks to Lareca Roberts, Jeff’s long-time caregiver for her outstanding care, patience, compassion and for the comfort she provided to both Jeff and Sue during the duration of Jeff’s illness.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Boulevard in New Orleans on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 3:00PM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 1:00PM.
