Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home & Cemeteries

Dr. Jerry Patrick Casey passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025, surrounded by his family at St. Anna’s Lambeth House. He had recently celebrated his 91st birthday.

He graduated from St. Anthony of Padua grammar school and then attended Jesuit High School, which always held a special place in his heart. He then attended Spring Hill College where he was a member of Omicron Sigma and was honored in 1985 as Alumnus of the Year for his dedication to and love of Spring Hill.

In 1960, he graduated from the LSU School of Medicine and served his internship in the U.S. Medical Corps at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D.C.

After completing his military duty, his Pediatric Residency was served at Charity Hospital in New Orleans.

In the years following his military duty, he became a lifelong member of the American Legion and was active in Legion Post 16 in Covington for many years.

As founding partner of Lakeside Children’s Clinic, he practiced for 43 years with Doctors Bauer, Blake and Zander.

Dr. Casey had a long-distinguished career as a pediatrician and was dedicated to his family and his patients. His was a long life well lived, and a life remembered with love.

As a devout Catholic, he held a deep devotion to Our Lady saying the rosary daily.

He was the son of Byron J. Casey, Sr. and Blanche Casey, brother of Dr. Byron J. Casey, Jr. (Dolores), and sister of Bonnie May Stuart (Tom).

He leaves his wife of 65 years, Margaret Jeanne, his daughters, Erin Casey Hangartner (Greg) and Mary Catherine Baham (Melton), and grandson, John Christopher Casey (Mallory), and many loved nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful to the staff of St. Anna’s for their care and kindness over these difficult years and the Guardian Angel Hospice.

A funeral mass was held on October 8, 2025 and internment was private at Lake Lawn Park Cemetery.
