Jewel G. Simon

Jewel transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly mansion after a brief illness. Jewel went to join her beloved husband of 62 years and high school sweetheart, Joseph M. Simon, and her beloved father, John J. Gourrier. Jewel is survived by her loving 101 yr. old mother, Ernestine Walker Gourrier, and Jewel's four daughters: Angela M. Simon; Judith A. Simon; Lynne S. Jalvia; and Lois A. Simon. Grandchildren: Gregory Jalvia II (Lisa) and Lyndsey J. Jackson (Jedidiah). Great Grandmother of Deacon J. Jalvia. Jewel has a host of loving cousins, neighbors and friends. Funeral services will be held on June 4, 2016 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (St. Stephens Church), 1025 Napoleon Ave., New Orleans, LA. 70115. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M., and Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 11:00 A.M. Mass will begin at 12:30 P.M., Monsignor Christopher Nalty, Officiant. The family would like to invite the Directors and Staff of the Joe W. and Dorothy Dorsett Brown Foundation, Joe Simon's Jazz Inc, Orleans Parish Public Schools - Music Dept., U.S. Postal Service, and Peoples Health.
