Joseph Edwards Miler passed away from a heart attack on Saturday evening, July 1, 2023 at the age of 55. He is survived by his beloved wife Nicole Marino Miler, loving daughter Lola Belle Miler, his mother Jean Farrell Slaughter of New Orleans, his brother Stuart Scott Miler, sister-in-law, Lori Ledebauche Miler, nephew, Conry Scott Miler and his wife Ivy Miler of Nashville, Tennessee; his brother, Timothy Conry Miler, sister-in-law, Melanie Cole Miler and niece, Wesley Anne Miler, of Leander, Texas. Also survived by his father-in-law Martin B Marino, mother-in-law Annette C Marino, and brother-in-law Marty B Marino, Jr of New Orleans. He is preceded in death by his father, Martin Conry Miler; his grandfather, Alfred M. Farrell, Jr., his grandmother, Wessie Breaux Farrell; and his great-grandmother, Blanche Castagnos Wright, who was affectionately known as “Big Jean” ; his brother, Eric M. Miler, and his nephew Garrett Pearson Miler. Joe was a native of New Orleans and longtime resident of Old Metairie, and was a graduate of the University of Mississippi. He owned and operated a successful house painting business that was built entirely from word of mouth, which was a true testament to both the quality of his work and great relationships he maintained with his clients. Joe Miler was the type of guy that everyone loved! When he entered a room, everyone gravitated towards him! Joe had that type of charisma that everyone was drawn to. If Joe was there, laughter was in the air! He never met a stranger, and he never uttered an unkind word about anyone! He lived his life to the fullest in everything, especially fishing in Grand Isle, and cooking for his family and friends. His greatest love was fishing until his daughter Lola was born! Then his whole heart turned to spending all his time taking care of his wife Nicole and daughter Lola! They became the center of his entire world! Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Boulevard, New Orleans, on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 12:00 noon. Visitation will begin at 10:00 in the morning. An online guestbook is available at www.lakelawnmetairie.com.
