Knowing Jack’s love of LSU football and Jack’s ability to pull strings then you don’t suppose Joe Burrow’s win today had any connection do you? 
Kidding aside, I miss Jack! 

We will always remember our great days at Sacred Heart we shared with the girls, Jack and you Anita.

I was so sorry to hear of John's passing. Although I never met him, I feel like I know him. My thoughts will be with you & your family through these difficult  times.

Dear Anita and girls,

I am so sorry to hear of Jack’s passing.

Jackie (as we called him at St. Matthias) saw my name in an email from Donald Regner (another St. Matthias student, for a few years anyway) and sent me an email writing that my name was a name out of the past and wished me a Happy New Year. These emails were  on December 31 and January 1.  When I saw Jack’s name, I told him that what I could remember of him was a little boy kicking, screaming, biting, and being dragged into primmer grade. I told him in the email that I was thinking to myself, “where in the hell did my mother leave me? He must know something I don’t know.” 

He said I had a good memory—he wanted no part of school but that Sr. Mary Jane Daza hugged him and kissed him and said  that she was a saint. He said Ms. Raphael was a sweetheart, too, and for me to get Donald to tell me about Ms. Raphael. He said Donald was insanely funny and keeps him in tears.

It was so nice hearing from him. I am deeply sorry for your loss. I will keep both him and your family in my prayers.

So sorry to hear of Jacks passing, my my prayers to all his family and may God Bless his soul.  Jack and I worked together at Bank of New Orleans years ago he was always fun to be around and the life of the party and an awesome Banker.

My condolences to Anita and family. Jack and I worked together at First Metropolitan Bank and Hibernia National Bank. As all of his friends will recount, he was a jokester and fun to be around, but he also had a keen, analytical mind and truly enjoyed being a banker. And, he was devoted to his beloved family. 

I remember seeing him outside Tiger Stadium minutes after my Fighting IRISH defeated LSU and when he saw me he told me “you are the last guy I wanted to see tonight! Congratulations.”

Two days before his passing, Jack sent me a message that I will always cherish. Rest In Peace my friend.

I met Jack 35 years ago after moving to New Orleans and working together at Bank of New Orleans. My fondest memory was the night Jack, and Anita took me to my first LSU football game. I had to be rescued by Anita from the flailing arms as Jack taunted the opposition. Over the years and after leaving New Orleans Jack and I stayed in constant contact via phone, text and on those rare occasions when I got back to New Orleans in person. Jack and I always had time in our conversations to tell stories about the time Dickie  did something to him or me that created tears of laughter. Jack always said he missed Dickie and now and forever they will share eternal peace. You talk about the end of an era and that is Jack. To Anita, Stacey, Stephanie, Ainslie and their entire families my thoughts and prayers are with you. I am sure Jack will be watching over ya'll from paradise.

Jack and I were friends for over 65 years.  Whether in the city or on the Gulf coast coast we had fun.  We sailed together, rode horses, played "kick the can," and let I our imaginations take us around the world.  Jack's sense of humor always kept us laughing both at 70 and 7 .  Above all, Jack was a gentleman and a great friend and I will miss him

My heartfelt condolences to Jack’s family. I worked at Metairie Bank with Jack, it was always a pleasure to be in his company. His antics always reminded me of my brother. When he retired the joking continued through emails. You never could not have fun when Jack was around.  My prayers and blessings to you all

Never had the pleasure of meeting Jack in person, but over SO many years we exchanged email jokes and recipes as we were fellow aficionados of the Big Green Egg and fellow bankers.

Jack always said he was coming up here to visit us in Illinois and then drive my Corvette back to LA so he could take care of it for me! 

Rest in peace, my cyber friend and show the boys in Heaven what ceramic cooking is all about!

Ron Pratt (RRP) Dunlap, IL



I’m sure most of Jack’s friends know this, but he LOVED barbecue. He and Ron Cunningham used to travel to the north shore and meet me at Abita Barbecue, where Jack would order a giant smoked Turkey Leg!  Ron and I would laugh hysterically and tell Jack he looked like Fred Flintstone!  We didn’t leave until that Turkey leg was picked clean. Jack was one-of-kind and i will miss him. Gods speed, Jack 

Tom and I were crushed to hear of Jack's passing.  What a wonderful and fun person he was.  He meant a lot to us both and especially Tom.  Tom always loved the banking stories he would share, in a modified accent mind you, of some of their banking cohorts (who will remain nameless here).    We loved Jack's passion for LSU, as our alma mater but his adopted one, and his wonderful passion for barbecue.  Our prayers are sent to Anita and his angels (his girls) including all their families.  May God fill the void you feel in your hearts with wonderful memories and all the love that Jack spread wherever he went.
