

John T. Favaloro, Jr. died peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, November 23, 2015. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Frieda B. Favaloro. He is survived by sons Wesley A. Favaloro, Sr. (Linda) and John T. Favaloro, III, (Caren), daughter Mary Favaloro Booth (Donald), and daughter-in-law, Patricia Favaloro. Preceded in death by son Stephen L. Favaloro and daughter, Lisa Favaloro Mattei. Grandfather of Bridget, Wesley II, Rebecca (Dane), Jamie (Jason), Lauren, Kristin (Dave), Melissa, Megan (Fred), Kyle, Jennifer (Max), David and John IV. Also survived by 11 great grandchildren.
John was a decorated WWII Veteran who served under MacArthur during the invasion of the Philippines. He was an accomplished musician who played saxophone and clarinet with the Pat Barberot Orchestra while also working at Dixie Furniture as a salesman. His interest and talent in decorating led him to further his education in interior design. In partnership with his wife Frieda, he opened his own furniture store, Favaloro’s Accent House, selling fine furniture and accessories. John served as president and Frieda served as secretary/treasurer. They worked together until retirement opening several stores over the years. He was a talented and respected designer whose creativity could be seen in homes and businesses throughout the south. He was a member of the National Society of Interior Designers and American Society of Interior Designers. John and Frieda enjoyed traveling together extensively, as well as spending time with their large family who John loved and adored.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 2:00pm. Visitation will begin at 10:00am until service time. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park and Mausoleum
