

John Joseph Galpin passed away on Wednesday, July 20th at the age of 68. Beloved husband of Jeanette Ogden Galpin, beloved father of Allyson Galpin-Hernandez, father in-law of Milton Hernandez, and brother of Lodoiska Ann Galpin. He was preceded in death by his father James Joseph Galpin Sr, mother Lodoiska Wetzel Galpin, brother James Joseph Galpin Jr, grandmother Alice Buck Wetzel, in-laws Dr. William Ogden and Jeanette Bledsoe Ogden. John was born in New Orleans and graduated high school from St. Paul’s School in Covington, LA. He received an Associate Degree from Delgado in Electrical Construction Engineering. John was employed by Entergy Corporation and retired after 36 years. He was a member of Mount Moriah-Quitman Masonic Lodge #59 where he served as Pastmaster. John loved being with his family, loved his pet boxers, flew large model airplanes, and had a passion for fixing anything that needed to be fixed. After his retirement, he enjoyed having coffee with his close work associates and could be found reading any type of technical manual. Breakfast was his favorite meal and he was famous for his milk punch recipe which was enjoyed by all on Christmas Day. He will be missed by his godmother Joan Rawls, goddaughter Marie Celeste, his sisters in-law Deborah Ogden (Derald) Smith, Beverly Ogden (Bayne) Dickinson, and Connye Ogden (Fred) Lumpkin and their families. He will also be missed by his cousins in Texas. The family will have a private interment.
