Joseph Peter Compagno

Joseph Peter Compagno passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the age of 73. He left this world to join his beloved wife and partner of 53 years, the late Marion Hebert Compagno, in eternal life. Joseph was the son of the late Peter Joseph Compagno and Maria Taormina Compagno. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gaetano Compagno.

Joseph graduated from Jesuit High School in New Orleans and went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts in History from Loyola University New Orleans and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of New Orleans. Throughout his life, he worked as an accountant and real estate developer. He will be remembered for his love of cooking, movies, and his daily prayer life.

He is survived by his three devoted children, Peter Compagno (Kristin), Michael Compagno, and Cristen Compagno Wandzilak (Brian); his grandchildren, Alexandra Compagno, Vincent Compagno, Lina Wandzilak, Sonny Compagno, and Cassandra Compagno; and his sisters, Maria C. Roth (William), Angela C. Chagnard (Donell), and Elizabeth C. Hance (Tim), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Family and friends are invited to a Catholic Mass on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Boulevard, New Orleans, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
