Joseph Bert St. Romain passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at the age of 93. He was born in Cottonport, Louisiana, on July 21, 1929. After attending LSU, he left to serve his country as a member of the United States Coast Guard (from 1948 – 1951). He went on to a long career as owner of Sea-Trac Offshore Services, Inc. In his free time, he loved boating, fishing, and sailing. Bert was a devout man of faith and a parishioner of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph “Jack” and Birdie Descant St. Romain; daughter, Jill Marie St. Romain Tate; and sons, Christopher Lee St. Romain and Mark St. Romain.
Bert is survived by his wife of 30 years, Velma T. St. Romain; sons, Jeffery Scot St. Romain (Kathy), John Bradford St. Romain (Bonnie), Joseph Lyle St. Romain (Renee) and John Michael Toole; daughters, Patricia Lotz (James) and Susan Stephenson (Mark); daughter-in-law, Donna St. Romain; sister, Joyce Lacombe; brother, John St. Romain; grandchildren, Jeremy St. Romain, Caroline Yeh, Carly Metzner, Christopher Adam St. Romain, Suzette St. Romain, Jeanne Arceneaux, Alicia Ainley, Molly Zamora, Chloe Truitt, Wesley Tate, Victoria Lotz, Andrew Lotz, Lauren Stephenson, and Erin Stephenson; and great-grandchildren, Owen St. Romain, Zelie Metzner, Loic Metzner, Eden Truitt, Hayes Truitt, Alexander Zamora and Madeleine Ainley.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Catholic Funeral Service in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 2 PM. Visitation will begin at 1 PM. Bert will be laid to rest following the chapel service.
