Joseph "Peepaw" G. Wright

Joseph G. Wright (Peepaw), of Metairie, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2020, at the age of 94. He was born January 1, 1926 in New Orleans to the late Joseph and Rosalie De Luca Wright. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorithe Yon Wright; his son, Joseph G. Wright, Jr.; and his daughter, Debra Ann Wright Camardelle. He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie W. Winkles; his son, Kirk S. Wright; his sisters, Gloria Stromeyer and Betty Jean Reed; his brother, John Vollenweider; his grandchildren, Joseph G. Wright, III, Jimmy Camardelle, Yonnie Leblanc, Joedi Wright, Amy Wright, Timothy Camardelle, Mandy Camardelle, Kelly Camardelle, Valerie Ayres, Weston Winkles, and Kyle Wright; and his twenty-two great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

He served in the U.S. Navy, and worked as a sheet metal mechanic. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus – Ludovicum 4663 and the Sheet Metal Masters Union Local 214. Additionally, he was a parishioner of St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, and a Scout Master of Troop 70 and the Good Old Boys of Metairie.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, 901 Beverly Garden Drive in Metairie, on Monday, June 15, 2020 at 12:00PM. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00AM-12:00PM. A private interment will take place at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.

After the burial, please join us for a Celebration of Life that will be held at the Knights of Columbus, 1427 Seminole Ave, Metairie, La 70005. We will be sharing our favorite memories of Peepaw. Food and drinks will be served.
