Josephine Maggio Dorsa

She retired from the Jefferson Parish Public School System after 25 years as Principal’s Secretary. Josephine enjoyed gardening, bowling, and casinos. She loved traveling with friends and family, and of course, spending time with her grandchildren.

Josephine is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, John Mark Dorsa, Sr; parents, Alex and Mary Maggio; son, Michael Dorsa (Karen); sister, Rosalie Maggio; and brother, Buster Maggio.

She is survived by her sons, John Dorsa, Jr. (Debbie) and Joel Dorsa (Charmaine); grandchildren, Brooke Cornelius (Casey), Clayton Dorsa, Corey Dorsa, Rachel Dorsa, Jason Dorsa (Shannon), Alyssa Machacek (Thomas), and Rebecca Dorsa (Peter); and great-grandchildren, Bowen, Bellamy, Bexleigh, Layla, Theo, Arthur, and Daisy.

The family would like to give special thanks to St. Joseph Hospice.

The services will take place on Friday, November 14, 2025 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124. The visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. The interment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum, which is within Metairie Cemetery.
