

Juan Esteban Padilla, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025 at the age of 94. A dedicated and hardworking seaman, Juan devoted many years of his life to the sea, ensuring that every vessel he worked on ran smoothly.
Born on June 20,1930 in La Ceiba, Honduras. Juan was known for his unwavering integrity, wisdom and responsibility- traits that guided him in both his professional endeavors and personal life. He was trusted by many, both at work and home.
Juan enjoyed Sundays- he’d walk to church with his wife, eat a home cooked meal, and end the day with a black and white movie. He loved walks in the park and slow afternoons in the presence of his loved ones. He was a man of a few words but profound insights.
Juan’s family was the center of his world. He was devoted to his late wife, Irma Padilla for 67 years with whom he shared 9 children with: Sonia M. Ayala, Reyna L. Padilla, Irma Y. Padilla, Carlos A. Padilla, Oscar A. Padilla, Oscar R. Padilla, Carmen S. Padilla, Martha I. Padilla, and Nuria J. Salazar. As a grandfather, he imparted valuable wisdom and shared countless stories to his 21 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Juan created and left a legacy behind.
Though he has embarked on his final voyage, Juan will remain a beacon of wisdom and love in the hearts of his family and friends. His life will be celebrated on Saturday, February 1, 2025 visitation beginning at 12:00 pm followed by a Funeral Mass at 2:00 pm at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum in Metairie Cemetery.
