

Judith Anne Hartwell, 77, passed away at Woldenberg Village’s Willowwood nursing home on Tuesday, July 13. Born in Alexandria, Louisiana, in 1943, she grew up in coastal Mississippi and graduated from Gulfport High School in 1960. She attended the University of Mississippi, and earned a bachelor’s degree from William Carey College and a master’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Ms. Hartwell had a long career in the cosmetics industry as a top-producing sales director for the Estée Lauder Companies’ southern region.
She lived in the French Quarter for more than 40 years, cultivating a devoted community of friends and neighbors who cherished her gardening, baking and wit.
Ms. Hartwell is preceded in death by her parents, William Charles Hartwell, Sr., and Judith Chambliss Hartwell; and her brother, William Charles Hartwell, Jr. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Sandra Hatten Hartwell, of Winter Park, Florida; her nephew, William Randolph Hartwell and his husband, Christopher Milenkevich, of Becket, Massachusetts; her niece Brooke Hartwell and her husband, Swaminathan Rajaraman, of Winter Park, Florida; her niece Leigh Ann Preston and her husband, Derrick Preston, of Chappaqua, New York; her great-niece, Katherine Preston and her great-nephews, Will Preston and Teddy Preston, all of Chappaqua.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a visitation at 1 p.m. and service at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., on Monday, July 26, 2021.
