A lifelong native of New Orleans, Julie was full of life and always ready to pass a good time. She attended the Academy of the Sacred Heart and Marymount College in Arlington, VA. She met the love of her life at Bay-Waveland Yacht Club in Bay St. Louis, MS where they enjoyed their family summer homes.
Julie had a brief career as a surgical stenographer at Ochsner Hospital, but after having her first child, she learned to sew and would later use this skill to open two businesses designing and manufacturing children’s’ clothes (Lumpkin and Daisies & Doodlebugs). Additionally, she beaded queen’s gowns for several carnival balls and sewed the white uniforms for The Academy of the Sacred Heart.
In her younger years, Julie enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and crabbing in Bay St Louis. She would later take up tennis as well as golf. She very much enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. Billy taught her how to cook and enjoy the many dishes special to New Orleans. She became an excellent cook and avid collector of cookbooks. They both loved to entertain at their home, wining and dining their many friends. Julie loved to cook for others and would often take meals and sweets to her friends and neighbors at DeLimon Place. Julie loved seeing her grandchildren, had nicknames for each one, and always enjoyed watching phone videos of them and their pets.
A private family burial will take place sometime in the near future when all of her grandchildren can all gather in New Orleans.
Julie’s family would like to thank the fabulous caregivers who took such loving care of her in her final weeks, especially our team leader Nicol Bradford and the wonderful help from Sharon, Vanessa, Alecia, and Jessica. We also wish to thank Hearts of Hospice for their loving assistance, and in particular, Anjanette Tassin, RN.
