AVIS DE DÉCÈS
Karen Zuckerman Soll
16 avril 1945 – 12 janvier 2021
KAREN ZUCKERMAN SOLL, a lifelong resident of New Orleans, passed away peacefully in her home on January 12, 2021. She was 75.
A graduate of Fortier High School, Karen was dedicated to her community, having belonged to Congregations Chevra Thilim, Beth Israel and Gates of Prayer, and a lifetime member of Hadassah Women’s Organization, a member of Women’s American ORT, and active in the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans as a distinguished Lion of Judah.
Always devoted to her family, Karen is survived by her husband of over 55 years, Dr. Edward Lee Soll of Philadelphia and her three children and their spouses Michael (Stacey), Shea (Michelle) and Gregg (Ellen), and eight grandchildren, Aaron, David, Lauren, Maya, Reyna, Julien, Ada and Eliza, and her sister Esther Shaiman (Bert, deceased) of Philadelphia. She is predeceased by her parents Martin and Rebecca Herman Zuckerman and sister Fay Parnes (Stanley, deceased). During her years-long battle with cancer Karen appreciated the care and treatment she received from Dr. Jayne Gurtler, her staff, the numerous other medical professionals and other caregivers who were committed to helping her. For the majority of the time during her cancer fight, Karen found joy including an epic family trip to Israel, summers in Colorado, cruises around the world, family mitzvoth and more. Her endurance was our blessing.
Regrettably, due to the pandemic, the funeral will be a private graveside service. However, we are pleased that your participation will be possible via internet broadcast link at https://www.gatesofprayer.org/live-stream.html on Thursday, January 14th at 1:00 PM. Rabbi David Gerber and Rabbi Robert Loewy will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in Karen’s honor by designating a gift to the Karen Soll Lion of Judah Endowed Fund to support the many causes close to her heart. (Checks may be sent to the Jewish Endowment Foundation of Louisiana at One Galleria Blvd., Suite 1040, Metairie, LA 70001 or made at the following website www.jef@jefno.org with designation in Karen’s memory.) Alternatively, please feel free to make a donation in her memory to the charity of your choice.
