

Born on September 3rd, 1948, in Baptist Hospital of New Orleans as Hurricane Charlie passed over the city. His Parents were Robert Leon Jouet (34 years old) & Ruth Vega Jouet (28 years old). They resided at 929 Ninth Street in New Orleans. At the young age of 1 the family moved to a newly built house on Mehle St in Arabi for 2 short years when they finally took roots in the new subdivision of Gentilly Woods in 1951. This is where He spent his life while growing up until he married in 1967. His childhood couldn’t have been better as His parents devoted their whole life to him and his 3 brothers. His older Brother Robert (Bobby) and two younger brothers Alan & Daniel (Danny). He attended St James Major for Kindergarten, W.C. Claiborne Elementary for 1st Grade and the finally St Gabriel for 2nd to 8th grades. His high school was Cor Jesu (Brother Martin) which he graduated in 1966.
He is survived by his wife Rosemary Reivere Jouet, his son Lawrence Paul Jouet, Jr (wife Adrianne Jouet) and their three daughters Catherine Elle, Violet Lee and Sylvia Lauren Jouet: his daughter Karen Kay Jouet and her daughter Kayla Mechelle Jouet (partner Kaelyn Hoffmann).
In 1964 He lost his dear Father at the young age of 50 who he admired greatly for the man he wanted to mold his life to. He had a very happy childhood with his parents and brothers. He spent most weekends with his dad with their hobbies of Model railroading, Flying Model airplanes, Archery & most of all Bowling.
After the death of his Father, He decided to find a part time job after school at F.W. Woolworth to help take the burden of His Mother’s financial worries. This eventually was a start to His First Career in Retailing.
In January of 1964 He met the love of his life. At the young age of 15 while in High School he asked this beautiful young girl Rosemary Reivere for a date to go to a school play and at that time did not realize that they would fall deeply in love and spend the rest of their life together. She was fortunate to meet His Father before He died and was by Larry’s side to help him through this heartbreaking time of his young life. They dated all through High School and right after graduation He asked her to marry him. They were married at St Angela Merci Church in Metairie the following year on July 15th 1967.
They lived in New Orleans after married for a short time in a little house on Mexico & Spain Street until His was transferred to Vicksburg Mississippi as The Assistant Manager of F.W. Woolworth. He left Woolworth and went to work for T.G.& Y in Vicksburg.
While living in Vicksburg He became a Father to Lawrence "Paul" Jouet Jr. in January 1968. They lived there until they were transferred to West Monroe La. Then Monroe La. 1970 Again transferred to Gonzales La. for 1 & 1/2 years then Gramercy La. in 1972 They moved back to the New Orleans Area and Settled in Metairie. Then along came His Daughter Karen Kay Jouet in April of 1972.
After graduating From High School, He entered the Retail Store Management with Woolworth and T.G. & Y. that lasted for over 17 years. in 1985 He then started his second career in the Automotive Business with Bryan Chevrolet which he spent the next 20 years in many positions including Management. He spent the last 5 years with Crown Buick until he retired from the business. After retiring He work part time as a Courier for MNX Logistics & Enterprises Car Rental.
He was the grandfather of Four Beautiful Granddaughters. "Pap Paw" to Kayla Mechelle Jouet and "Grandpa" to Catherine Elle Jouet, Violet Lee Jouet & Sylvia Lauren Jouet.
He tried to live a good a Christian life and attended Sunday Mass Services weekly like He was taught by his parents and throughout His Catholic Education. In 2018 he joined the Knights of Columbus at St Ann Msgr. Charles Duke Council #3465 and became a 4th Degree Knight member of Bishop Charles P. Greco Assembly #2093; he was an Usher for Sunday 8:00 am mass at St Ann Church and Sine in Metairie.
He enjoyed the Company of His Children, Friends, Family members, Coworkers and loved Spending time with His Grandchildren. But Most of all dedicating His Life and Love to His Dear Wife Rosemary.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Ann Church & Shrine, 3601 Transcontinental Dr in Metairie, LA, on Monday, May 9, 2022 at 12 PM. Visitation will begin at 10 AM. Graveside services will be held privately.
