Lawrence E. Trunk, Sr.

Lawrence E. Trunk, Sr. passed away in his sleep on January 10, 2025 at the age of 86. Larry was born in 1938 in Wheeling, West Virginia as one of six children of August and Georgeina Trunk. He grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from Cathedral Latin High School where he excelled at basketball and was recognized as an All-State Player. He attended Loyola University of New Orleans on a Basketball scholarship where he was a member of the Wolfpack Basketball team, leading the team in scoring during the 1959 -1960 season and participated in ROTC. Larry graduated from Loyola in 1961 with a degree in Business and entered the Army attaining the rank of First Lieutenant. In 1962 he married Marsha Voitier. Larry became a real estate broker and investor. He founded Larry Trunk, Inc. in 1972, which has operated as a real estate brokerage in the Greater New Orleans area for over 52 years. Larry continued to play recreational basketball and playground tennis as a 4.0 player while raising his family. He was also a lifelong freshwater fisherman. As a boy, he often fished the banks of Lake Erie and locally he took his two sons fishing throughout myriad bayous for over 40 years.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings and is survived by his wife of 62 years Marsha Voitier Trunk, their sons Lawrence E. Trunk Jr. and Christopher J. Trunk, daughter Laura Ellen Trunk, MD (George A. Mueller, III) and three grandchildren, Lawrence E. Trunk III, George A. Mueller IV and Ellen P. Mueller. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend services on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will begin at 9:00AM followed by a mass at 11:00AM. Interment will be at Metairie Cemetery.
