

Lena May Butler Andrues, age 90 passed away on March 27, 2016 at 3:27pm in her home in Spring, Texas. Born in Tennessee, Lena was a 10 year resident of the Houston area and a lifelong resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, where she shared her life with family in the Lower 9th Ward.
Lena is survived by her son, David Andrues (Karen), her grandchildren Melissa Andrues Wright (Jeremy), Kristopher Andrues (Nichole), Jonathan Ducombs (Milagro), Kathleen Ducombs, Anastasia (Cryssie) Poffahl, Joshua Miller (Christine), Jennifer Raley Jones (Craig) & Timothy (TJ) Miller. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Brandon Kain, Peyton Ansardi, Corey & Colton Wright, Sage & Nicholas Andrues, Logan Ducombs, James (Kutter) Mosley, Julianna Miller, Landry Graves, Alan & Ella Jones. Other surviving family members include her brother Robert Butler (Sheila), and sisters Jennie LeJeune, Audrey Bordelon (Richard), nieces Brenda Black, Sharon Ripol (Mitchell) nephews, RIchard (Lavonna) & Kenneth Bordelon, James (JD) Bergeron (Bonnie), as well as a host of other nieces, nephews and other close family. She is also survived by close friends Gaynel Parker, Ralph Claflin, Michelle Stogner, Nikki Howard, Tania Battaile & Dalia Padilla, Pamela Ruffino, as well as the best caregivers she could ask for, Donna Pakebusch & Brittany Moore.
She is preceeded in death by her parents William Butler and Louise Pauline Ross Butler, husband WIllie (Bill) Andrues, daughter Deborah Ducombs Andrues, sister Annie Katherine Wilson, brother Samuel Butler, grandchildren Amanda and Brian Ducombs, nieces Dianne Landry and Sandra Trolinger and nephews Joseph & Lester Bergeron.
Lena was a retired Marine Operator for Bell South, New Orleans. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, road trips, people watching and watching Game Show Network.
Lena, Granny to many, was a kind and giving person, never turning her back on a loved one in need. Her door was always open and her heart never too full. She will be missed by many for her spicy attitude, kind heart, hard working personality, caring nature, strength and perseverance.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124 on Sunday, April 3, 2016 from 5pm - 8pm. A funeral service will take place on Monday, April 4, 2016 at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
