Linda Sue “Suey” Green Barousse, a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and friend passed away on May 19, 2021 at the age of 83. Beloved daughter of the late Dr. Max Mayo Green and Edwina Ratelle Green. Suey was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gerard Walter Barousse. She is survived and will be greatly missed by her two sons, Gerard Walter Barousse Jr. (Jeanne) and Clark Mayo Barousse (Louise). Proud Grandmother of Lauren Louise Barousse (Joseph), Jeanne Rene Barousse (William), Aimee Green Barousse, Brighton Louise Barousse (Brian), Clark Mayo "Max" Barousse, Jr., Bennett Tway Barousse and Stratton Phelps Barousse. She is also survived by her sister, Maxine Green Fox.
Suey graduated from Metairie Park Country Day School and attended Randolph Macon Women’s College and Sophie Newcomb College. Following her marriage to “Gerry,” she lived in Key West Florida during the completion of his Naval Service. They then moved back to their hometown of New Orleans, where she lived for the rest of her life. She loved traveling and spending time at the family home in Pass Christian, Mississippi, and she and Gerry loved spending time in Highlands, NC. She was the consummate hostess, and there are too many fond memories and humorous moments to pick just one. She rarely missed her sons’ sporting events and was a proud and doting mother and grandmother.
“Suey” served the community through her activity in the Junior League of New Orleans, and with her volunteer efforts at Tulane University Medical Center and the New Orleans Children’s Museum. She was a member of numerous social and carnival organizations, including the New Orleans Country Club and the New Orleans Town Gardeners.
