Lorraine Reed Herbert

Lorraine Reed Herbert was born in Lutcher, LA on July 22, 1935, and passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024 at the age of 89. She was a current resident of Kenner, LA. Daughter of the late James Reed and Lillian Messina Reed. Loving mother of Billy Whitmore (Lana), Charles Herbert, IV (Bonnie), Cynthia Herbert, Debbie Herbert, Adam Herbert (Bonnie), Bridget Maher and the late Glinda DiLosa. Adoring grandmother of Dennis, Troy, Billy, Denise, Chad, Brandon, Jonathan, Megan, Lauren, Jordan, and Ally. Step-grandmother of Jeremy. Great grandmother of Caleigh, Caleb, Mason, Noah, Ryne, Ayla, Violet, Daniel, and Julian. Sister of Gerald Reed and the late Mary Tillman and Therald Reed. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Lorraine was a wonderful woman, she was kind, good hearted, compassionate, and a hard worker. She made a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was a fantastic waitress for 50 years. She loved interacting with her customers and greeted everyone with a smile. She worked at several restaurants, some of them included McCory, F.W. Woolworth & Company, The Lafayette Coffee Shop, The Pearl Restaurant and Mike Serio’s Po-Boys & Deli. Her passions included swimming, gardening and cooking for her grandchildren. However, Lorraine’s deepest love was always her family. Lorraine will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124, on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will begin from 11:00AM until service time. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
