Avis de décès de Louis Anthony DiRosa
AUX SOINS DE

Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home & Cemeteries

Louis Anthony DiRosa, a retired court judge and attorney, died peacefully at home on December 16, 2020, with his wife, Lesley, at his side. He was 94. A New Orleans native, Judge DiRosa grew up in the French Quarter, was a star basketball player for St. Mary’s Italian Church, graduated from St. Aloysius High School, and attended Loyola University, graduating with a law degree in 1950. He served in the United States Army Air Corps. He was in private practice for over 33 years and served in leadership capacities in multiple civic and professional organizations. He was elected judge for the Civil District Court in New Orleans, Division D, in 1983. Even though he officially retired from the bench in 1996, he served as an ad hoc judge until 2012. “Louie” was a life-long LSU and New Orleans Saints fan, loved to travel throughout the United States and abroad, and relished great meals with friends at his favorite New Orleans area restaurants. He had an unmistakable flair and good-natured wit which left a lasting impression. He will be remembered for his engaging personality and his many kindnesses to strangers and friends who crossed his path throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank DiRosa, Sr. and Isabel Bonnecarrere DiRosa, and two older brothers, Frank DiRosa, Jr. and Judge Joseph V. DiRosa, Sr.

Judge DiRosa is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 35 years, Lesley Broussard DiRosa, five children, Claire D. Simno (George); Denise D. Frederick (Warren); Louis A. DiRosa, Jr.; Daniel A. DiRosa; Ashley DiRosa; three grandchildren, Renny Simno (Jacqueline); Jeffrey Simno; and Rainer Kallock; and one great-grandson, George Rennyson Simno V. He is also survived by two older sisters, Anna Maria Mariano and Isabel Barback and numerous nieces and nephews.
