

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Melvin Joseph Jung, Jr.; her son, Thomas Clifford Jung; her parents, Martin Leo McAuliffe and Pauline Mathern McAuliffe; and her brother, Martin Leo McAuliffe, Jr.
Lucille is survived by her three children, Lt. Commander (retired) Melvin Joseph Jung, III (Gloria), Dr. Paulette J. Thomas (Dr. Robert A. Thomas), and Ellen J. Griffin; her seven grandchildren, Kristina J. West (David P. West, II), Jennifer Phillips (Greg), Melvin J. Jung, IV (Audrey), Dr. Aimée K. Thomas (Shannon), Patrick Thomas (Tara), Melissa Renee Mojica (Michael), and Rebecca Perales (Stevan); and her ten great grandchildren, Stephanie M. and David P. West, III, Chaney, Grayson, and Lindsey Phillips, Tessa A. and Damon P. J. Jung, Kathryn and Luke Thomas, and Mikayla Mojica. She is also survived by special friends, Margaret Moffatt Larson and Lauren Moffatt.
Lucille was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 11, 1925. At the age of 16, she graduated from Sophie B. Wright High School, and continued her education at Soule Business College.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Golf Wives Club, and enjoyed spending time with her YaYas, playing bridge, Rummikub, watercolor and oil painting, pinochle, traveling, and dancing. She was also a voracious reader and an avid Saints fan.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the St. Anna’s at Lambeth House staff, especially Jennie, Jada, Dannika, and Britney and to Angie with Guardian Angel Hospice for their excellent care and dignified compassion.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 11:00AM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 9:30AM. Interment at St. Louis Cemetery No. III.
