

Lydia is survived by her two sons, Carlos and his daughter Nicole and Maurice and his son Robby, as well as two siblings Marta and Herman Aleman.
Lydia is preceded in death by her siblings, Naydo, Roy, Edda, Amelia and Tita Aleman.
Lydia was born in San Pedro Sula, Honduras on June 14, 1922. After graduating high school and trade school she worked as a phone operator for a local company before moving to the United States in the late 1950s.
Lydia held several jobs after moving to New Orleans but none longer than the 30 years she worked at Baptist Hospital. Lydia would say her biggest accomplishment was raising her two sons, Carlos and Maurice. She enjoyed spending time with family and cooking especially her signature tamales. Additionally, Lydia loved spending time in church, something that did not get lost with her family.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 9 AM on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on Canal St. Fr. Marinello of New Orleans will be officiating. Burial will follow the Mass at Metairie Cemetery at 10:30 AM. Flowers can be sent directly to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church at 4640 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA 70119. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home.
