

Margaret Carolyn (Lyn) Ott Loria died peacefully at her home on July 29, 2015. She is survived by her children Dr. Philip Ronald Loria (Mary), Carolyn Loria Pitalo (Don) and Dr. Diane Loria Rose (Steve), her grandchildren Melissa, Megan, Jimmy and Caroline Brown and Ally and Caroline Pitalo and her sister, Barbara Anne Schneidau (Herbert). She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Philip Ronald (Ronnie) Loria and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Thomas Ott. Lyn loved life, family and friends.She loved professional baseball and never missed a World Series. She especially adored watching her dearfather, Mel Ott, play baseball! Throughout her life, she reminisced that her Dad's friend, Frank Sinatra, sang Happy Birthday to her.
She will be well remembered for the Bunny Egg Hunt she hosted many Easters. As an avid gardener, she would play in the dirt, maintaining a lovely garden year round. Her orchids bloomed prolifically. Lyn designed and crafted jewelry, creating beautiful pieces to wear as well as treasured Christmas ornaments for her family. She was very active in her church, St. Paul's Episcopal Church participating in many ministries including Altar Guild and Eucharistic Ministry. She delighted many residents at St. Anna's Nursing home with her monthly cocktail parties. She studied Greek for several years and read the Old Testament and Homer's Odyssey and Iliad in Greek. She loved to travel and was a wonderful cook. She will be sorely missed by her family
Her family would like to express their sincere gratitude and love for her sitters Gail Watkins, Velma Smith and Barbara Hall Williams, who took the very best care of her. Also we would like to thank the Ameracare Hospice for their care of her at the end. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of her life on Saturday, August 15 with visitation at 11 am, a funeral at noon at St. Paul's Episcopal Church (6349 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, Louisiana 70124) and a reception following at the church.
