

Born in 1956 in Kankakee, Illinois. She was the daughter of the late Louis James La Guardia Sr. and Demetra John Moshos.
She attended Saint James Major high school where she formed lifelong friendships. Her laughter and love will always inspire those who knew her. Maria had a passion for cooking, tap dancing and engaging in meaningful conversations. She cherished the memories of savoring oysters at Drago's, loved exercising, and the color yellow, which perfectly captured her vibrant nature. Above all else, her life's work was loving and raising her five children.
She was married to the late Warren Anthony Cervini III, with whom she had two children.
Maria dedicated 23 years of service to Jefferson Parish. She served as Public Works Administrative operations coordinator, coordinating essential services for the parish throughout her career. She was known for her professionalism, warmth and unwavering commitment to excellence. She had a unique ability to make any workplace better, bringing organization, compassion, and a sense of community to all those she worked with. Colleagues remember her as someone who led with kindness, humor, and integrity.
She is survived by her devoted lifetime and spiritual companion of four years Jonathan N. Kernion, with whom she found companionship, faith, and love in the later years of her life.
She is also survived by her children, Mark S. McAdams Jr., (Carrie), Elizabeth McAdams Kaplan, Jeffrey R. McAdams, Victoria L. Cervini and Maria C. Eaton (Nathaniel); her beloved brothers, Louis J. La Guardia Jr, (Irene), John J. La Guardia, and Anthony J. La Guardia Sr., who all loved her deeply.
Maria was a devoted grandmother to her eight grandchildren. Paul Jacob Scariano Jr., Luke Vernon McAdams, Parker Joshua Kaplan, Grace Demetra McAdams, Ella Cervini Casanova, Patrick Ryan McAdams, Jacob George McAdams, and Mila Cervini Eaton.
She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Ochsner Hospital ER, ICU, and hospice team for their compassionate care during Maria's final days.
Maria was blessed with many dear friends who were always there for her, and a special thank you to the Daughters of Isabella, Saint Joan of Arc chapter, for their love and prayers.
May her memory be eternal.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Francis Xavier Church, 444 Metairie Rd., Metairie, LA 70005. Visitation will be held at St Francis Xavier Church on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 10 AM until 12 PM. Mass will begin at 12 PM with Reverend Joseph Palermo officiating. Interment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the American Heart Association, and M. D. Anderson Multiple Myeloma division.
