Marian Plant Petry

Marian Plant Petry passed away on December 6, 2021. Marian, born on August 4, 1929 in New Orleans, Louisiana, was the beloved daughter to the late Harry Plant and Catherine Siren Plant. She was married for forty wonderful years to the late John H. Petry, Jr.

Marian graduated from Lafayette Elementary and Eleanor McMain High School before attending St. Mary’s Dominican College where she received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Education. She taught in the Orleans Parish Schools for 20 years.

Marian was a member of the Colonial Golf Club and the Colonial Garden Club. She enjoyed spending time gardening, especially raising Vanda and Cattleya Orchids. Marian was also a member of the Louisiana Bridge Association and the American Contract Bridge League where she enjoyed playing bridge several times a week.

Friends are welcome to attend a graveside service for Marian to be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 10:00 AM in Metairie Cemetery located at 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124.
