Marie Richards Enright "DeeDee"

Marie Richards Enright “DeeDee” peacefully entered into the loving embrace of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in her home on Thursday, August 23, 2018. She celebrated her incredible 91 years as the true matriarch of her family.

Born Marie Theresa Richards on January 31, 1927. She lived in Lakeview and attended St. Dominic where she met the love of her life, the late Stephen Daniel Enright Sr. She graduated Mt. Carmel Academy in 1943. Marie married Stephen during a hurricane on September 4, 1948 and enjoyed 64 years of marital bliss.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Raymond and Mamie Morrison Richards; husband, Stephen Daniel Enright Sr.; daughter, Patricia Enright Saladino; brothers and sisters, Elaine White, RaeAnn Rolland, Gertrude Dupre’, and Raymond Patrick Richards.

She is survived by her children, Susan Thistlethwaite (Patrick), Mary Knieper (Henry), Theresa “Terri” Smith (dePaul), Stephanie Enright, and Stephen Enright, Jr. (Doni); 17 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren.

Marie was a recipient of the Order of Saint Louis Medal in 1978 and the Regina Matrum in 1988, and was a member of the Marians. She was involved in multiple charitable and civic organizations.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at St. Ann Church and National Shrine, 3601 Transcontinental Dr., Metairie, Louisiana at 12:00 p.m. with a visitation at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow the mass at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum, 5454 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans.
