
She loved New Orleans History, Dixieland Jazz and of course, the Fair Grounds Racetrack, where she had a career as a mutuel clerk. She was a devoted union member of Pari-Mutuel Employees Guild of California Local 280 SEIU.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Michael Peggs; and also her first husband, Alfred Popara; parents, Lawrence Torbert and Hazel Hatch Torbert; daughter, Frances Popara; son, William Popara; sister, Vivienne Eldred; and brother, James Torbert.
She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Popara DeBiase and Dena Popara; son, Russell Popara; sister, Carolyn McClaskey; grandchildren, Frank DeBiase, Marco DeBiase, and Max DeBiase; and great-grandchild, Isabella (Sabie) DeBiase.
The family would like to give special thanks to Marjorie’s brother-in-law, John Peggs, and his wife, Nancy Peggs, as well as Passages Hospice and Home Instead Caregivers.
