

Mark R. Borner passed away in his home on April 9, 2016. He was 60 years old. Mr. Borner was born in Chicago, IL to the late Richard Borner and Leona B. Borner. His family moved to the New Orleans area in 1971. He finished high school at East Jefferson High School. Later he earned his bachelor’s degree in Communication from University of New Orleans. In 1980, he married Susan J. Borner. He worked in the maritime communication industry for thirty years and recently began a career in information technology. He and his wife resided in Kenner, LA.
Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Susan; son, John Borner of Kenner, LA and daughter Jennifer B. Ruppel and husband Philip of New Orleans, LA; grandchild, James “Kobus” Ruppel; mother Leona Borner of River Ridge, LA; and brother Bruce Borner and wife Amanda of Plano, TX.
Mr. Borner was a Jefferson Parish Executive Committee member for the Libertarian Party. He was a dedicated husband, son, father, grandfather, and friend known for his wild sense of humor and selfless nature. He was a foodie, the family chef, and essentially a jack-of-all-trades. If he didn’t know, he learned.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA on Thursday, April 14 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin in the chapel at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, masses and donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital are preferred.
