

Martha Lee Johnson Anderson was born on March 25, 1937 in Pointe Coupee, Louisiana. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Morris (Leola) Johnson. Martha Lee departed this life on November 11, 2014 at the age of 77. Martha Lee grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana and was the fourth oldest child of ten. She also attended Blessed Sacrament Parochial School and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. Mrs. Anderson worked for the late Judge Oliver Delery prior to marriage. On September 19, 1959, she married the late Charles Anderson. Three (3) children were born to this union: Fredrick Charles Anderson, Antoinette Maria Anderson and Derrick Jason Anderson. In the late 1960’s, she worked for Andrew H. Wilson School as a Cafeteria Worker. She also provided child care services in her home. Later, she became a homemaker. Over the years, during the course of the kids schooling, she was president of the Booster Club for Walter L. Cohen Senior High School. Martha Lee was a parishioner of Saint Matthias Catholic Church now known as Blessed Trinity Parish for 46 years. Martha Lee was known as a “Pillar of the Community.” She was an active member of Saint Vincent DePaul Society. She also did volunteer services for Broadmoor Community Center. She found joy in painting ceramics, cooking and entertaining guests. Her doors were always open to anyone in need of a meal, clothing and a place of shelter. She is survived by her three children, Fredrick Charles Anderson, Antoinette Maria Anderson and Derrick Jason Anderson. During her lifetime, she had seven (7) grandchildren and four (4) great grandchildren. She is also survived by two (2) sisters, two (2) brothers, one (1) brother-n-law and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by three (3) sisters and (2) brothers. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Blessed Trinity Parish Catholic Church, 4230 S Broad St, New Orleans, on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 10:00 am.
