Nicholas J. Lapara, Jr.

Nicholas was born in New Orleans on December 5, 1945. He was a graduate of Redemptorist High School and attended Loyola University. For 27 years he worked as a minute clerk with Judge Richard Garvey in the Civil District Court. He was a 35-year member and past King of the Krewe of Okeanos.

Nicholas is survived by his wife of 43 years, Cynthia Occhipinti Lapara; his son, Dr. Nicholas J. Lapara, III (Roxie); his three grandchildren, Finley, Ezra, and Collins; his sister, Linda Lapara Andrews (Dr. Samuel); his two nieces, Erica Andrews and Kari Andrews Bradley (Jarred); and his nephew, Jason Andrews (Renee). He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas J. and Rita Bielenberg Lapara.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 12:00PM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 11:00AM. The interment will follow the Mass in Metairie Cemetery.
