Norma Helen Weixel Glynn, a lifelong resident of New Orleans and beloved matriarch, died peacefully in her sleep on June 7, 2023 in Baton Rouge at age 99. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Elmo (MO) Glynn; parents, Richard and Leocadie Weixel; sister, Edna Weixel Gristina; and brother Richard Weixel. She is survived by her son, Dr. Gary Glynn and his wife Mary (Streckfus) of Metairie, LA and daughter, Terry Glynn Arikol and her husband Tony of Baton Rouge, LA. She is also survived by granddaughters, Jennifer Glynn Harrell (Darren) of San Antonio, TX; Stacy Glynn LaMorte (Kris) of Metairie, LA; Michelle Glynn Bouvé (Michael) of Franklin, TN; Amanda Arikol of New York, NY; Lauren Arikol Cotten (Drew) of Baton Rouge; and Alison Arikol Bertinot (Neil) of Baton Rouge; and by great-grandchildren, Hannah, Sam, and Maeve LaMorte and Zachary, Madelyn, and Rachel Bouvé. She is also survived by 17 loving nieces and nephews. Norma was a homemaker who loved being involved in her children's schools. She was a member and former president of the Opti-Mrs. Club and the New Orleans Power Squadron. She was a member and former queen of the Krewe of Cleopatra. She and MO were avid travelers and loved to entertain. They loved boating and even lived in a boathouse on West End Park where they hosted countless picnics and family reunions. Norma loved sports and would read the sports section of the newspaper from front to back. She especially loved the Saints and LSU football. Known by many names: Mom, Mimi, Aunt Norma, Nanny Norma, and Nibbs, Norma was loved and will be missed by many.

The visitation and funeral mass will be on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. until mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park.
