

Ophelia Louise Rudd Hodges was born September 28, 1935 in Emondson, AK to the late John and Samella Rudd. She was one of six children. Raised in Memphis, TN, she attended the Memphis Public Schools. She attended LeMoyne College in Memphis, TN and later moved to New Orleans, La, where she received a degree from Dillard University. She was a retired teacher of the Orleans Parish School System in New Orleans. Ophelia leaves to mourn six children, Freida Scott (Jerry), Clarence and Lewis Hodges of New Orleans, Dr. Deidra Hodges of Atlanta, GA., Marva Louisville (Tommy) of Winner Haven, FL., and Melvin Hodges of Memphis, TN; two brother, Andrew (Maggie) and Michael Rudd, a sister Jennie Rudd, all of Memphis; brothers-in-laws, Warren Hodges (Clara) of Carson , CA and Jesse Hodges (Rebecca) of Tulsa, OK; sister-in-laws Fredricka Hodges, Mary Liggins and Margaret Jones of Memphis, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Melvin Hodges Sr., brothers Webster H. Rudd and Rev. John Rudd of Memphis. Ophelia also leaves to mourn ten grandchildren, six great-grand children and a host of other relatives, friends and family. Friends of the family, USDA National Finance Center, Entergy, Jotun Paint Inc., Winner Haven Ambulatory Surgical Center (FL), Urgent Care Walk-in Center of Winter Haven, Krogers (Memphis) U.S.P. Graduate School of Engineering, Tampa are invited to attend the Memorial Services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home on Friday November 14, 2014 at 1:00 pm. Inurnment will follow in Mt.
