Patricia M. Adams

Born on September 9, 1934, in New Orleans, Pat’s life was one of quiet commitment to her family and to the Church. Pat attended Holy Name of Jesus, Ursuline Academy, and the Academy of the Sacred Heart. She worked for LP&L after graduating from Soule Business College.

Pat married Orr Adams at St. Louis Cathedral in July, 1955, and together, they had three children - Dawn Wheelahan, Orr Adams and Patricia Adams. Pat is survived by her children, her daughter-in-law Meg Adams, her nieces Colleen and Kathleen Church, her four grandsons, Christopher Wheelahan, Tucker Adams, Connor Adams (Lauren) and Justin Shapiro (Appie) and one great-grandson River Cullum Adams.

Pat was an avid reader throughout her life and passed on her love of books to all three of her children. She loved to sew and crochet and, like her beloved mother, Ethel Molony, Pat loved to knit - especially socks to keep our feet warm in winter and later, baby blankets for new arrivals to family and friends.

Among many lovely qualities, her sweetness of spirit was a defining characteristic. She brought a gentle kindness to the world and to those around her. Pat faced significant challenges in her life with remarkable grace and dignity. Her sweetness was matched only by her strength of character and steadfast devotion to her family and to the Church.

Pat loved animals, especially dogs and cats, and it’s a good thing, because she was “grandma” to a long succession of furry family members, most recently, Chickie, Beau, Natasha, Evie and Mal. She was a gentle light that shone softly, but steadily on those around her. She will be sorely missed by her family – the furry and the not so furry. The family wishes to thank the administration and staff of Laurel Senior Living for their kindness and for taking such good care of Pat over the last year.

Services will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124, on Friday, November 14, 2025. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a funeral mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. A private interment will follow.
