On October 21, 2022 Ricardo Rodriguez passed away at St. Joseph Hospice. He was born January 24, 1929 in Tela, Honduras to the late Arturo and Elvira Rodriguez. Ricardo was an army veteran of the Korean War, a Melvin Jones recipient member of the Delta Lions Club, and was awarded the Saint Louis medal as a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church.
Ric was a lifelong fan of western movies (all of them, really!). Of course, he also loved to dance, listen to marimba, and was an accomplished cook. He took great pride in his volunteer work with the Lions, particularly events supporting the Magnolia School, as well as a variety of causes in support of people in need.
He is survived by: his lovely wife, Olga Valle Rodriguez; his children, Sal and Claudia; his stepchildren, Olga (Patrick) and Joaquin Palacios; his grandchildren, Chiara and Montserrat; his sister, Liliana (Alvaro); his mother-in-law, Joaquina Valle; his brother-in-law, Rolando Valle; his beloved dog, BeeBee; and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister, Yolanda, and his brother, Rolando.
A visitation is planned for Monday, October 31, 2022 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home at 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m., with mass immediately following visitation.
The family extends their many thanks to the personnel at East Jefferson Hospital ICU and St. Joseph Hospice for their kindness, care, and attention.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the National Kidney Foundation in Ric’s memory.
