Richard Thomas Sonier passed away on September 16, 2025, at the age of 78. He was born on January 7, 1947, in New Orleans, Louisiana and resident of Metairie. He was a parishioner of St. Benilde Catholic Church.
Richard is survived by his wife of 54 years, Concetta “Connie” Sonier; daughter, Michelle Sonier; sons, Richard Sonier, Peter Sonier, and Robert Sonier, Sr.; grandchildren, Brad Molinaro III, Camille Hadley, Robert Sonier, Jr. (R.J.), McKenzie Sonier, Lily Sonier, Peter Sonier, Tommy Burgess, and Catherine Burgess; and brother, Robert Michael Sonier.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lucille Sonier; and sisters, Constance Lee and Jacklyn Kietlinski.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Saturday, October 4, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10 AM with a Memorial Mass following at 12 PM. Rev. Matthew Johnston will officiate. Richard will be laid to rest privately at a later date.
