Rita Mary Fitzpatrick Murray

Rita Mary Fitzpatrick Murray entered into eternal life on Saturday September 20, 2014 at the age of 96. She was the beloved wife of the late Alvin G. Murray Sr. and beloved mother of Margaret Murray Lyons (Michael), Timothy Murray (Vicky) and the late Alvin G. “Jerry” Murray Jr. (Charlene). She was a loving and devoted Grandmother to Erin, Shannon, Colleen, Lisa, and Shawn (deceased), Jenny, Tim, Patrick, Carly. She had 14 great grandchildren. Rita is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Margaret Smith Fitzpatrick, and brothers William (Carmel) and Joseph (Clem) Fitzpatrick. She was known for her wonderful cooking and sharing her delicious recipes. She was a native of New Orleans and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1934. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the caring and compassionate staff at Chateau de Notre Dame.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 11:00 am at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am until service time. Interment will take place following the service at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Magnificat House of Discernment 2729 Lowerline, New Orleans, LA 70125
