Ronald (Ronnie, Ron) Conway Jackson, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on Saturday, November 2 at the hospital in Las Vegas at the age of 82. He was born on September 18, 1942 in Bainbridge, Georgia to the late G.S. Jackson III and Maxine Jackson. Ronnie grew up in New Orleans where he was a star basketball and baseball player at Eleanor McMain, St. Stanislas, and Fortier. His athletic prowess earned him the nickname “Action Jackson.” Ronnie attended USL in Lafayette, where he received his degree in Business. He was a born salesman, and after college he began working for the Gillette Company where he quickly moved up the ranks, was transferred to the corporate office and became Vice President of Sales & Marketing. Ronnie had that rare ability to get up in front of hundreds of people and give such inspirational speeches (often without notes) that he was sent all over the country to be a featured speaker at countless conventions. Ronnie loved traveling with his wife, Summer, and together they traveled the world – taking numerous trips to countries all over Europe, the Caribbean Islands and throughout the United States. Ronnie was an avid golfer, and he had the honor of playing on the famed courses in Scotland and Pebble Beach. Although his home for the past 25 plus years was in Las Vegas, Ronnie was a New Orleanian through and through. He loved the Saints; he loved his oyster po-boys at Mandina’s, raw oysters at Pascal Manale’s, spumoni at Brocato’s, crawfish and crabs anywhere he could get them, and he especially loved his annual get together with lifelong friends at what became known as “The Ronnie Boil.” Ronnie was so much fun to be around. He was the life of the party – where his quick wit and endless jokes always filled the room with laughter. Above all, he relished spending time with his family and beloved Beagles, Boggie and Bailey. Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Alex Jackson, and his great-niece, Maelan Graffagnini. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Summer, his son, Scott, his sister, Linda Haydel and brother, G.S. Jackson, IV. He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren, Lauren Cortez (Jacob), Reid Jackson, Thomas Jackson (Katy), Ellen Byrd (Benjamin), 3 great-grandchildren, with one on the way, his 3 nieces, Gigi Graffagnini, Madeline Price and Marianne Walsh and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Friday, November 15 at 11:00am at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home.
