Rosalie Lopez Grote

Rosalie Lopez Grote died on June 23, 2023 at the age of 97. Born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie, Louisiana for 70 years. Beloved wife of the late Thomas M. Grote for 62 years. Mother of Lynn G. Coles, Christine G. Foss, Thomas M. Grote, Jr. (Christine) and the late Elizabeth Grote.

Grandmother of Kenny Coles (Michelle), Bridget Foss Hagan (John), Kevin Coles, Stephen Coles (Missy), Jessica Grote, Emily Grote Lee (Andrew), David Coles, and Adam Grote (Katie). Great grandmother of Colin Hagan, Riley Grote, Josie Grote, Chandler Coles and Louis Grote.

Preceded in death by her parents, Lottie Hebert Lopez Arboneaux and Augustin Lopez. Step-father, Frank Arboneaux and siblings, May L. Gammon, Cecilia (Mattie) L. Rizzuto and Lionel Lopez.

Rosalie graduated from St. Mary’s Dominican High School and attended Dominican College. After many years at home with her children she returned to Dominican High School to assist in the Bursar’s office and continue her volunteer work in the Alumnae Office.

Her hobbies included bowling, playing cards, sewing and needle work. She was a member of the Geneka Ladies Club, St. Clement of Rome Altar Society and Dominican Alumnae Association. She was a founding member of St. Clement of Rome Parish serving as a Eucharistic Minister and was recipient of the St. Louis Medallion.

Services were private and burial followed in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
