Rose Salvaggio Kern was 93 when she passed away on November 2, 2015. Rose was born in New Orleans on September 5, 1922 to the late Fortune and Desiderate Bevinetto Salvaggio. She was the wife of Stanley G. Kern, beloved mother of Patricia Kern Seale, mother-in-law of Glenn Norman Seale, and grandmother of Jessica Seale (Scott Lambert) and Meredith Seale as well as sister of Daisy Saia and the late Anthony Salvaggio and Catherine Hayes. During her seventy plus years in the movie theater business in New Orleans, Rose held positions at the Beacon Carrollton, Dreamland, Escorial, Fine Arts, Grand (Metairie), Happyland, Mecca, Napoleon, National, Nola, Poplar, Prytania, Rivoli, Tivoli, Lakeside (Cobb), Robert E. Lee and AMC Clearview theaters. She was a member of the Women in the Motion Picture Industry and an avid bowler and canasta player. Her ticket lines were always the longest because “people wanted to visit and reminisce.” A Visitation will be held from 11-1pm on Monday November 9, 2015 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd New Orleans, La, with a Funeral Mass to begin at 1pm.
