

Shirley Oubre Krass, age 81, entered into eternal rest on Friday July 18, 2014 surrounded by loving family and her favorite music. Beloved wife of Edwin J. Krass, Jr. for 63 years. Survived by her devoted husband, son Blake Krass, daughters Julie Kroper, Amy Smith and Gail K. Leist; beloved grandchildren Reed and Stephanie Krass, Scott and Kevin Kroper, Lindsey, Connor and Bonnie Smith, Cody, Monica and Jessica Kellum, and James and Carson Leist; and by daughter-in-law Shelly Krass, and sons-in-law Paul Kroper, James Smith, and Trey Leist. Preceded in death by her parents, William and Iva Oubre, and her sisters, Ruth Blache and Dorothy Prentiss. Shirley loved to sew and was a member of several quilting groups. She was a devoted member and officer of the St. Lawrence the Martyr Mothers Club long after her children were grown and was a recipient of The Order of St. Louis award for her service to the church. Shirley was a sweet and gentle soul with a great laugh who was loved by all who knew her. She was also the best wife, mother and grandmother a family could have. Her family would like to thank the staff of Colonial Oaks Living Center for their years of care and devotion. Their support and kindness has meant so much to us. They would also like to thank Hospice Associates for their care and assistance during her last days. Visitation will begin at 11a.m. on Tuesday July 22, 2014 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. followed by a Catholic mass at 1p.m. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
