Unfortunately I did not know your lovely mother, but I knew Lisa. Not very well, I must admit. I send my love, prayers and sympathies your way. Keep her memories lose and he I’ll always be in our hearts.

Lisa, Laura & Chris,  - We are deeply sadden by the loss of our dear cousin Shirley.  When they say your first friends are your cousins, believe it, it's TRUE! From holiday gathers, to long weekend visits in Morgan City cooking spidini's and drinking wine (Shirley's favorite).   We always had a great time.  It breaks our heart to see her gone so soon, but the memories we have will last FOREVER!!!!

I first met Shirley when she transferred to Lafayette from Morgan City with Kerr-McGee Corp. Eventually,  we worked together in Employee Relations, having offices side-by-side for many years. She encouraged me to finish my degree at USL, as she was also taking classes. We would go to classes, study together, eat together, and share in our achievements. (all A's, of course!). After K-M moved to Houston, we would meet up for bagels & coffee. She moved to Kenner, but we still stayed in touch. On Facebook, we shared our love for Italy, having both traveled there in 2015, gardening & recipes.  I loved seeing her posts of her growing family and their achievements.  My heart is broken that I have to say goodbye to a dear friend and never hear from her again. God bless you, Shirley,  and may God bless all of her family.

Shirley was an important mentor and guide for me professionally and she had a huge impact on me. Personally, I considered her a dear friend and I will miss her ready smile and her words of wisdom.  I pray that  her beloved family will be comforted by beautiful memories. Rest In Peace sweet Shirls!


Oh boy where do I begin? I met the Legaux family when our family was  relocated to Morgan City when I was ten years old. We had the great pleasure of living in the same neighborhood  and growing up with Lisa, Laura, and Chris. I always loved the independent,  strong willed personality  Mrs. Shirley had and when she spoke we listened. Lisa and I took sewing lessons together and then Mrs. Shirley would "fine toon" what we learned. Sewing was one of her many talents. 
She took a group of us girls to an Air Supply concert in New Orleans overnight and in the 70's that was a huge deal.  My first concert. I ate countless amounts of her delicious  food, made many of her recipes, slept at her house more times than I could count and loved her like a second mother. Thank you Mrs. Shirley for raising one of the best friends a girl could ask for. My 44 year friendship with Lisa and this family is one I will cherish till I die. We love all of you.

Shirley made a lasting impression in my life as a facilitator, coach and most importantly, a friend. We met through USM’s TDCP, but we continued our friendship beyond the program as I am sure she did with so many others. Her wisdom, energy, and experience will live on through those she touched. Prayers to the family. God bless you, Shirley, fly high! 


Oh how do I begin... A lady of many talents and a heart of gold. She made a lasting impression of everyone she met.  I met Shirley in 1979 when I moved from New Mexico to become a resident of Louisiana. She took me under her wing and mothered me as one of her own. She taught me how to cook some of the finest Italian foods. She was an excellent cook. One of my fondest memories is when she and I had to take a water survival class. She was very afraid of water in her face. When we had to step off the edge, I grabbed her hand as I didnt want her to be afraid and alone. We did this together and the smile when she popped back up was worth a million smiles. I loved her like a mother. She is now resting peacefully. Heaven has gain a very special angel. Praying for comfort for the family. Keep her memories close to your heart and she will walk with you each day. Love to you all.

Shirley was a coach and facilitator for USM’s Training and Development certification. She was so relatable and had creative ways to engage participants. Her sessions were so impactful...and a lot of fun. 

I haven’t been in one of her sessions in over 16 years....and I still remember the impact she made. 

She will be missed.

There is not enough that can be said about Shirley. It is through tear streaked eyes that I write that she changed my life. She made my career. I strive to be like her. May those of you graced to have her running through your veins never take that for granted. Love, peace and comfort to each of you. She loved you so dearly.

Shirley is my husband's godmother.. When i was pregnant with my oldest child, for my baby shower, Shirley hand made a precious noah's arc blanket.. It was the talk of my shower, i used it for all three of my children, and my two daughter's used it for their kids as well.
I will cherish it always..  My prayers to Shirley's children and family, may God comfort you during this very difficult time, keep your sweet memories of your mom in your heart always!!

I was lucky to find Shirley when the USCG moved us to Morgan City. We had so many adventures over the years. Here are two; a trip to Atlanta and the Georgia Aquarium with Clark Cofer and my brother Robert Thompson and me driving in a red wig to give a Desk & Derrick Petromolly presentation. Of course, Coach Shirley Legaux is in the passenger seat taking this photo and making sure I have memorized the script. I don't look like I was taking her to seriously. So many projects...so many 😂 laughs. I miss you dear friend.
