

Sidney T. Cousans, Jr., 90, of Metairie, LA passed away after a brief illness on June 25, 2014. He was a veteran of WWII in the 1340 Combat Engineers, received 5 Bronze Campaign Battle Stars for Normandy (D-Day), Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge) and Central Europe. Also received the Bronze Arrow Head (for D-Day) and a Purple Heart (Hurtgen Forest) and other citations and awards. He was the President of Gem Printing Co. for 54 years and took great pride in his professional career. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Rosemary Radosta. Left to cherish his memory are his 6 children, Cynthia (the late Bart) Keller, Priscilla Schroeder, Sidney (Grace) Cousans III, Ronnie Cousans, Pamela (the late Brian) Mitchell, and Dennis (Michelle) Cousans, 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and his loyal friend Lionel Mitchell. He will also be greatly missed by his friends in the restaurant community of New Orleans. Friends, family and current and former employees of Gem Printing Co. are invited to the Memorial Service at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at 6:45 PM. Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery. To be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National World War II Museum.
