

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7. Sidney August Usner, III went to be with his Lord and Savior at 5:38am on Monday, December 31, 2018. He was 67 years old. Sid was a native of New Orleans, a graduate of Cor Jesu High School and a resident of Houston, Texas. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Loyola University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and also received a Master’s of Business Administration from Loyola University. Sid started his career at Middle South where he made life-long friendships. He went on to work and retire from McDermott after 32 years as an Applications Development Manager of Information Technology. Sid is a colon cancer survivor and volunteered his time with CanCare helping those recently diagnosed with colon cancer. But most of all Sid’s family brought him the greatest joy and saw them as his greatest accomplishment. Sid is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Leslye Sanders Usner; daughter Amy Usner Hatten and husband David Micah Hatten; daughter Kristin Usner Norton and husband Taylor Montgomery Norton; son Brian Corey Usner and wife Jenny Oubre Usner; grandchildren Elizabeth, William and Katherine Hatten; Taylor, Graham, Lexi and Addi Norton; and Jack and Anna Claire Usner; and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Sidney A Usner, Jr and Shirley Taormina Usner Curry; and grandparents who raised him Sam and Hazel Taormina. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 105 Bonnabel Blvd, Metairie, LA 70005 from 10:30am until Mass at 11:30am conducted by Father Billy O’Riordan. Burial will follow at All Saints Mausoleum on the grounds of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Drs. Adam Frome, Ojas Naik, Dustin Agan and Paul Decker, the staff of Dialyspa, especially Irene Hardy and Jimmy Jimenez, his care team at Home Therapeutics Solutions, especially, Anthony, Linda, Kelly, Michelle and Shell and the Shuttle Squad, especially, Anita, Bristol Hospice, especially, Karen, Beth, Susie and Kristie.
